Georgetown Athletes Selected to the U.S. Team for the 2002 World Rowing Championships
8/27/2002 Several Georgetown athletes were chosen to represent the United States in the 2002 World Rowing Championships in Seville, Spain. Conal Groom ('95), Mike Altman ('97), Mike Aller ('99), and Hilary Gehman were all selected to compete in this year's championships beginning the week of September 15. Conal Groom was chosen to represent the U.S. the men’s lightweight double. Groom holds the distinction of competing on almost every National Team since graduation. Mike Altman is set to compete in the men’s lightweight pair. Mike was on the USA squad in ’97, ’98 and ’99, before taking a hiatus until this spring. Mike Aller will compete in the men’s lightweight quad. Mike has been training at Potomac Boat Club since graduation and this is his first selection to the team. Georgetown Women's Varsity Assistant Coach Hilary Gehman was selected to the National Team for the fourth time. She will compete in the women's quad once again this year.
