Grand Valley State's women's cross country team finished third at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Ashland, Ohio. The Lakers recorded a team score of 97 points, finishing behind two teams from Colorado. Western State College won Nationals with 43 points and Adams State College finished second with 46 points.

Senior Shannon Antvelink finished first for the Lakers and placed 11th overall with a time of 22:25.3. Sophomore Natalie Ewing placed 17th with a time of 22:36.9 and freshman Kara Egan took 21st (22:48.7). Junior Jeannette Seckinger (22:50.3) finished 23rd and sophomore Krista O'Dell (22:56.4) placed 25th to round out the scoring for Grand Valley.

Senior Rebecca Winters finished 31st with a time of 23:03.1 and sophomore Mandi Long placed 34th, recording a time of 23:08.6.

The women went into the meet ranked #3 in the country and competed in the National Championship meet for the third time in the last four years. Grand Valley finished in fifth place last year.
