Grand Valley State defeated Indianapolis, 3-2 (30-17, 24-30, 30-19, 27-30, 15-9) in first round Regional action on Thursday night. The Lakers advance to the second round where they will play Wheeling Jesuit on Friday, Nov. 21 at 5:00 p.m.

GVSU was led by GLIAC Player of the Year, Sabrina Bird, who tallied 15 kills, a .444 attack percentage, six aces, seven digs, and five total blocks. Tracy Kirk added 10 kills and six blocks, while Molly Young recorded a team-high 13 digs. Megan Helsen tallied 10 digs and Nicole Bayle added 37 assists.
