Allendale, Mich. - Twelve Grand Valley State track & field performers qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships in seven different events at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays last Friday and Saturday. GVSU will next be in action at the GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday (May 4) and Friday (May 5) in Big Rapids, Mich.

Susie Rivard finished fifth in the 800 and qualified for the NCAA Championships with a time of 2:14.20. Lauren Bader finished fourth in the 3000 and met the NCAA standard with a time of 10:02.53, while Adrian Chouinard (17:07.16) and Karlie Singleton (17:14.28) finished 12th and 15th, respectively in the 5000 with an NCAA qualifying mark. Laura Aderman finished sixth in the 3000m steeplechase in a NCAA mark of 11:10.00, while Stacey Kangas met the NCAA mark with her 10th place finish (11:17.48). The GVSU 4x400 relay team of Lauren Ball, Ashley Jager, Micaela Mayer and Liz Shinn qualified for the NCAA Championships with a third place finish in 3:51.73. Pam Treppa notched a qualifying mark in the long jump (18-9.25), while Morgan Acre continued her stellar spring with a toss of 181-11 in the hammper to meet the NCAA standard.

Liz Shinn finished ninth in the 200 (25.72) and 13th in the 100 (12.65). Jen Tulpa finished 11th in the 100 hurdles (15.55), while Lauren Ball was 13th in the 400 hurdles (1:06.15). Meredith DeVries was eighth in the high jump (5-5) and GVSU claimed four of the top 14 spots in the pole vault. Lindsey Jones was second (12-1.50), Dianna Noonan was fourth (12-1.50), Rachel Duthler was ninth (11-7.75) and Bethany Hecksel was 14th (11-1.75). Acre was eighth in the discus (137-06) and Lindsey Jacob was 11th in the javelin. Duthler also finished fourth in the heptathalon 3,539 points.
