Grand Valley State had a solid performance at the Northwest Invitational in Maryville, Mo. this weekend. GVSU had three men and two women record NCAA Provisional Qualifying marks. The Lakers will compete in the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Ferris State University on Saturday, April 9.
On the women's side, sophomore Jenn O'Shesky improved her qualifying time in the 400 meter hurdles as she finished in second place with a time of 1:01.71. Sophomore Morgan Acre recorded a NCAA Qualifying mark of 52.17m in the hammer throw.
Junior Kenny Coleman posted a qualifying time of 47.90 in the 400 meter dash on the men's side. In the field events, junior Josh Harris tallied a mark of 53.28m in the hammer throw, while sophomore John Ybarra recorded a throw of 16.29m in the shot put.
"This was a great opener for our sprinters and field event crew," said head coach Jerry Baltes. "We had good weather and solid competition to allow us to produce good results."
