Grand Valley State defeated Slippery Rock, 5-3, in a non-conference matchup Saturday. The Lakers won four singles matches and a double contest to pick up the win. GVSU will play at Ashland University today at 3:00 p.m.

Nikki Fairchild won at #2 singles, 6-4, 6-3, and Alison Koopsen picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win at #3 singles. Laura Sukup had no problem beating her opponent, 6-1, 6-1, while Natalie Pallat picked up a win at #6 singles, 6-2, 6-2.

Kim VanSprange and Pallet teammed up to pick up a win at #3 doubles to seal the victory for GVSU.
