Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State suffered its first GLIAC loss of the season 2-1 to Ashland on Sunday at the GVSU soccer field. The loss ends the Lakers 10 game unbeaten streak. The Eagles drew first blood, but GVSU answered back with a goal by Mirela Tutundzic in the 32nd minute of the game. Ashland came right back to score the game winning goal five minutes later and the defenses domintated the rest of the action. GVSU falls to 13-3-1 overall and 6-1-1 in conference action while Ashland is 12-1-2 overall, and 6-0-2 in the GLIAC.

Tutundzic netted her 17th goal of the season off an assist from fellow freshman Jenny Swalec to tie the game at one. Ashland's Tara Pifer scored the game winner from 35 yards out as she placed it perfectly into the left corner. GVSU goalkeeper Melissa Henson made 15 saves on the day as the Eagles outshot Grand Valley 27 to 3.

Ashland takes a half game lead in the GLIAC standings with one game remaining in the regular season. GVSU finishes the year next Saturday (Nov. 9) at Ferris State at 1:00 pm.
