Box Score

#4 Grand Valley State defeated Northern Michigan, 4-1, on Saturday to improve their record to 11-1 on the season. The Lakers are now 2-0 in the GLIAC and will play Northwood on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 2:00 p.m.

Northern Michigan scored early in the game, but GVSU added two goals to take a 2-1 lead at the half. Mirela Tutundzic tallied the Lakers first goal on a Kristin Leszcynski assist. April Raynovich added an unassisted goal.

The Lakers continued the scoring in the second half as both Erin Spika and Shannon Carrier added goals. Jenny Swalec and Tutundzic each added an assist on both of the last goals.

Tutundzic recorded her 13th goal and sixth assist of the season.

The Lakers tallied 24 shots and 10 shots on goal, while holding Northern Michigan to just nine shots and six on goal. Melissa Henson made five saves for Grand Valley.
