The women's golf team had all five Lakers earn All-GLIAC honors this season. Caitlin Bennett was named the GLIAC Women's Golf Freshman of the Year and also earned All-GLIAC First Team honors.
Bennett was named to the All-GLIAC First Team in her debut as a Laker, posting a 78.2 stroke average on the season. She finished in the top ten in five tournaments, claiming medalist honors in the Findlay Invitational. Bennett shot a 75 in the fist round and fired a 73 in the second round to help the Lakers win the invitational. She followed that performance with a third place finish in the Bubba Watson Invitational, recording rounds of 73 and 74 in the two-round tournament. In the Lakers' second place finish at the GLIAC Championships, Bennett took sixth place, firing a three round score of 235 (81-75-79).
Freshman Caitlin Duval, junior Tracey Puckering, and freshman Ashley Smith all earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors. Sophomore Michelle Boogaard was named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention team.
GVSU took second place at the GLIAC Championships last weekend, after firing a three round total of 942. The Lakers are currently ranked #2 in the Great Lakes Region and will wait to see if they earn a spot in the NCAA Regional Tournament.
