Results

Erie, Pa. - Grand Valley State fired a final-round 313 to claim the 2003 GLIAC Women's Golf Championship. GVSU shot a two-day total of 624, two shots better than West Michigan rival Ferris State (626). The GLIAC title was the second (2001) for the GVSU women's golf program.

GVSU used superior depth to claim the title, placing five golfers among the top seven and six among the top 11. Grand Valley State, which entered the final round one shot back of FSU (310-311), topped the Bulldogs in the final round by three strokes. Kristi Vienneau was the top Laker finisher, posting a two-day total of 154 which was good for third. Melissa Sneller followed with a 155 (4th), followed by Melissa Riegle's 157 (5th) and Shannon Briggs' 160 (6th). Nicole Augenstine finished tied for seventh with a 162, while Kate McDonald was 11th (168).

Grand Valley State, ranked third in the latest NCAA DII Regional rankings, will now prepare for the NCAA Regionals that will be held at Findlay.
