Grand Valley State's women's golf team won the Ashland University Invitational this past weekend. The Lakers shot a 320 in the first round and a 307 in round two, for a total of 627. GVSU won the tournament by a 16-stroke margin over second place Ferris State. All six Lakers finished within the top 10 slots.
Enid Gage finished in first place for the Lakers and second overall with a 153 (78, 75). Melissa Sneller tallied a fourth place finished with a 157 (80, 77), while Melissa Riegle tied for fifth place with a 158 (81, 77). Kristi Vienneau took eighth place with a 161 (83, 78), Shannon Briggs finished in ninth place with a 162 (81, 81), and Laura Leatherman took 10th place with a 163 (82, 81).
The Lakers are currently ranked #1 in the east in the latest regional poll. GVSU will play in the NCAA-II East Regional on May 4-5 in Big Rapids, Mich.
