Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State has been selected as the #2 seed in the NCAA DII Great Lakes Regional Tournament and will play #7 seeded Ashland University Friday (March 10) at Drury University in Springfield, Mo. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. (ET). A Laker victory over Ashland would put the Lakers in the semifinal round Saturday at 9 p.m. (ET) versus the winner of the Northern Kentucky-Michigan Tech matchup. Grand Valley State is making its seventh NCAA DII National Tournament appearance all-time and its third in the last four years under head coach Dawn Plitzuweit. GVSU claimed its first-ever NCAA DII Great Lakes Regional Championship a year ago and advanced to the Elite Eight. The Lakers have an all-time NCAA Tournament record of 5-6.
The Lakers, 27-3 overall, defeated Ashland Saturday night in the GLIAC Tournament Championship game in Allendale. Grand Valley State claimed its first-ever NCAA DII Great Lakes Regional title a year ago with a victory over Quincy in the tite game.
