Grand Valley State had six cross country athletes named all-americans for their outstanding performance at the Division II Cross Country National Championships. Both teams recorded their highest finishes in school history as the women took second place and the men placed fourth.
The top 30 finishers on each side are named all-americans. On the men's side, Nate Peck and Chris Pabst both earned all-american honors as they finished 16th and 18th, respectively. Peck was also named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Great Lakes Regional Runner of the Year.
On the women's side, Mandi Zemba (1st), Karlie Singleton (8th), Stacey Kandas (19th), and Adrian Chouinard (24th) were all named all-americans. Zemba was also named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Great Lakes Regional Runner of the Year and National Runner of the Year.
"We are proud of the races our student-athletes were able to put together at the National Championships," said head coach Jerry Baltes. "They showed great patience and toughness throughout the whole race."
"This is the most all-americans we have ever come home with from an NCAA Championship in cross country," Baltes added.
Baltes was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Great Lakes Regional Women's Coach of the Year.
