Grand Valley State's Men's Tennis Head Coach John Black announced the signing of four student-athletes for the 2003-04 season. Joining the Lakers this fall will be Shaughn Barnett, Adam Sandusky, Justin Sauerbrey, and Zach Siegrist.

"I am extremely excited to have these four highly accomplished tennis athletes coming this fall," said Black.

Barnett is a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he played #1 singles for Rampart High School. He finished with a career record of 40-15 in dual matches and was selected to the All-City/All-Area teams his junior and senior years. He was also selected to the Academic All-State team, as well as team captain his final two years.

Sandusky, from Three Rivers, Michigan, played #1 singles at Three Rivers High School. He was an All-State team honoree in 2002. Adam has been ranked in the top 10 of the USTA in Western Michigan and is currently ranked #118 in the Midwest section and #874 nationally in the 18 and under division.

Sauerbury, a Marshall, Michigan native, played #1 singles on the Marshall High School team. He led his team to a fifth place finish in the Division Three State Championships and advanced to the quarterfinals at states. In addition, he is currently ranked in the top 10 of the Midwest section of the USTA and has previously held sectional and national rankings.

Siegrist is from Carmel, Indiana, where he led his Carmel High School team to a top 10 state ranking each of the four years he played. He earned #1 singles All-County, All-District, and All-Regional team honors after his undefeated senior season. He has previously been ranked by the USTA in both his district and section.

"All four are very talented and each is capable of making a major impact on our lineup from their first day," commented Black on the 2003 freshman class.
