Allendale, Mich. - Freshman guard Jason Jamerson hit a three pointer with 11.4 seconds left to give GVSU a 69-66 lead and Courtney James added two free as the Lakers claimed a 71-66 victory over Great Lakes Regional foe Quincy. GVSU improves to 8-1 on the year, while Quincy falls to 7-4.

GVSU led early by a 12-6 margin, but Quincy went on a 26-9 run and built a 32-21 lead with 2:18 left in the first half. The Hawks hit five straight free throws after a pair of GVSU fouls and a technical foul on the Laker bench. However, GVSU ended the half with an 8-0 run highlighted by a Courtney James buzzer-beater to pull the Lakers withing two (32-30) at the half.

Grand Valley State led 50-48 with 9:04 left in the game, but another 8-0 run gave GVSU a 58-48 lead. A James jumper with 6:49 left gave the Lakers the 10 point lead. Quincy battled back and trailed by three when Cory Cummens was fouled on a three-point attempt with 26 seconds left in the game. Cummens made all three shots from the charity stripe and tied the game at 66-66 to set up Jamerson's game-winner.

Jamerson led GVSU with 15 points, connecting on 3-of-4 from the three-point line. Sophomore forward Mike Hall chipped in 14 point and a game-high nine rebounds, while Marcus Wallace added 12 points, five assists, two blocks and two steals. Courtney James came off the bench to provide eight points and four assists.

The Lakers shot a season-low 43.5 percent from the floor, but the Lakers held a 40-30 rebounding advantage and hit 10-of-11 free throws in the second half. GVSU limited Quincy to 39.6 percent shooting from the floor.

GVSU will be at Indianapolis on December 30 for another matchup with a Great Lakes Region opponent.
