Quincy, Ill. - Sophomore guard Courtney James scored a career-high 30 points points to lead Grand Valley State to an impressive 69-53 win over Truman State in the Quincy Subway Classic. GVSU, which improves to 9-1 overall, went 2-0 in the four-team classic.

GVSU trailed Truman State by a 20-12 margin with 7:08 left in the first half, but a 20-5 scoring run to close the opening 20 minutes moved the Lakers into a 32-25 lead. Courtney James scored 13 of the Lakers' 20 points in the decisive first-half run. GVSU opened the second half with another run, outscoring TSU 20-10 to forge into a 52-35 lead.

James led GVSU with 30 points and four assists, while Jeff Grauzer added 13 points and Marcus Wallace 10. Freshman forward Mike Hall added eight points. The Lakers outscored Truman 21-4 from the carity stripe and connected on 8-of-15 three-pointers.

GVSU's Courtney James, Marcus Wallace and Mike Hall were all named the all-tournament team. GVSU will continue its road swing with a Monday night matchup at Saint Joseph's college.
