Sunday, Nov. 3 - University of San Diego, Noon

BULLDOGS SPLIT WEEKS PLAY: With only three remaining matches left in the season the Gonzaga University women's soccer team (5-11-0,0-5-0) plays their last non-conference tilt Friday before hosting their final home match Sunday. The Bulldogs wrap up the three-match road trip Halloween day in non-conference action against the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho at 1 p.m. GU returns to Martin Field Sunday to host the University of San Diego Toreros for the last home match of the year at Noon. Gonzaga will end the season on the road Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. against the Santa Clara Broncos in Santa Clara, Calif.

SUNDAY MARKS LAST HOME MATCH FOR SENIORS: Senior team captain Megan Black digs her cleats into Martin Field for the last time Sunday afternoon. She is one of three seniors graduating from the women's soccer program this season. Black has appeared in 70 matches, collecting four goals and 14 points during her four-year career as a Bulldog. Senior forward Claire Whitfield will also say goodbye to her home field but will have to do so from the sidelines as she suffered a season-ending injury during the sixth match of the season. The Spokane native has been honored as a member of the All-West Coast Conference team twice and named to the 2001 WCC All-Academic team. Whitfield started all of her 58 matches, finishing her career with four goals and 10 assists, securing the No. 2 spot on the Gonzaga all-time career assists list. Junior defender Julie Schroeder will also be playing in her last home match as a Bulldog as she is a senior academically and will apply to graduate school next season. Schroeder has appeared in 23 matches with one goal and two points.

LAST TIME OUT: The Gonzaga University women's soccer team (5-11-0,0-5-0) continued to struggle in West Coast Conference play over the weekend as they dropped both road matches by one point. The Saint Mary's College Gaels (9-8-1,3-2-0) used two early first-half goals to defeat Gonzaga 2-1 Friday afternoon in Moraga, Calif. Bulldog forward Heidi Jacobson scored an unassisted goal at 39:14 to threaten the Gaels lead. The University of San Francisco Lady Dons (8-7-1,1-4-0) picked up their first WCC win as they downed Gonzaga 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Negoesco Stadium. The Bulldogs are now on a 21- match WCC losing skid, posting their last league win in 1999.

VS. IDAHO: The University of Idaho Vandals (2-11-3,0-6-1) and the Gonzaga University Bulldogs (5-11-0, 0-5-0) meet for the fourth time Halloween day at 1 p.m. in Moscow, Idaho. Thursday's tilt marks the Bulldogs last non-conference match of the year. Idaho leads the series 2-0-1 as Gonzaga has never claimed a win. The Vandals defeated the Bulldogs 3-1 during their last match, Nov. 5, 2000 at Martin Field. Head coach Arby Busey is in the midst of his first season leading the Vandals. Sophomore forward Sarah April leads Idaho with five goals while Emily Nelson has recorded four. Goalkeepers Lindsay Smith and Jenell Miller are sharing the bulk of duties in goal and have faced a combined 302 shots. The Vandals finished the 2001 campaign 9-8-3 overall 3-5-1 in the Big West Conference as they tied for the sixth place spot in league play. The Vandals are winless in their last six outings.

VS. UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO: The Gonzaga University Bulldogs (5-11-0,0-5-0) host the University of San Diego Toreros (9-6-2,2-3-0) for their 10th meeting Sunday at Martin Field during the Bulldogs last home match of the season. San Diego holds the 9-0-0 advantage heading into Sunday's match. The Toreros are led by sixth-year head coach John Cossaboon who led his squad to a fourth place West Coast Conference finish and a first-round NCAA playoff appearance last season. Cossaboon returns 13 letterwinners including sophomore midfielder Brooke Roby who leads the Toreros with seven assists. Junior goalkeeper Libby Bassett heads the defense with 44 saves in goal. Freshman newcomer Lee Ann Klopchinski has found the goal seven times. San Diego currently shares the sixth spot in the WCC with the Loyola Marymount Lions as they both have a 2-3-0 league record.

COACH STILES COMMENTS: "There are three games left and we need to find a way to put a full 90-minute game together and find a way to win," said coach Stiles about the Bulldogs seven-match losing skid. "We have a good match up on Thursday and we need to be the better team," said Stiles about the last non-conference meeting of the season against the University of Idaho Halloween day. "We definitely have a home field advantage Sunday," commented Stiles on the Gonzaga's last home match of the year against the University of San Diego Toreros. "San Diego is going to be a tough game, conference games are always tough," said Stiles. "The girls are disappointed about how they played over the weekend and the best case scenario would be to come off a win Thursday and end on a good note Sunday."

ASHLEY HAUGEN AMONG TOP 25: Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Haugen has moved up the NCAA statistical list and now owns the 23rd spot in the nation for saves with 112. Haugen also continues to sit atop the West Coast Conference standings for saves (112), saves per game (7.0) and sits second in shutouts (5). She has also moved up the Gonzaga single season saves list to No. 4 with 112.
