SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University head golf coach Robert Gray has announced the signing of Rachel Sibbitt to a letter-of-intent to join the Bulldogs women's golf team in the fall.

The native of Mint Valley, Calif., comes to Gonzaga from Marin Catholic High where she is a 3-time Marin County Athletic League Player of the Year. She helped lead her team to tie for sixth place in the 2006 California Interscholastic Federation-Northern California Girls Championship where she tied for 16th.

As a freshman, Sibbitt qualified for the 2003 CIF-NCGA Girls Championship as an individual, finishing in a tie for 25th. She was a 4-time team MVP.

Last summer she won her first-round match at the California State Girls Junior Amateur played at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Pebble Beach before being eliminated in the second round of match play.

"I think Rachel can come in and challenge for a spot next year," Gray said. "She has a wealth of junior experience against some outstanding competition."

The Bulldogs graduate just two players this year in seniors Mary Kate Morgan and Jennifer Swanson.
