Zags Fall During Day Two Of WCC's

SPOKANE, Wash. - - Bryce Cooper of the Gonzaga University men's tennis team posted a No. 1 singles victory Saturday but it wasn't enough as the eighth-seeded Bulldogs fell to fourth-seeded University of Portland 4-1 during the second day of the West Coast Conference Championship in San Diego, Calif. The loss drops Gonzaga to 11-15 for the year, while the Pilots improve to 13-7 overall. Cooper was the lone Zag to earn their respective match Saturday. The senior used two straight sets to defeat Filip Zivkovic 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles spot. Roman Dojcak Marco Antonio Pineda and Charles Adams all forced three sets after winning their respective opening set but were unable to down the Pilots. The Bulldogs' Brett Womack, Cooper Fratt and Zack Radetzky also fell in singles play. Portland earned the doubles point after taking wins at the top and third doubles spots. The Zags will hit the courts for the final time this season Sunday when they play Loyola Marymount University for seventh place.
