Bulldog Men Open Spring Golf Season

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Gonzaga University's Trevor Loe shot a 75 Monday, but it was host Washington State University that walked off with the title in the 18-hole Inland Cup played at Walla Walla Country Club. Loe fired a 36-39 over the 6,670-yard, par 71 WWCC layout. Reyn Tanaka and Matt Munroe each shot a 78 for the Bulldogs to tie for 13th. Tanaka shot 39-39 while Munroe shot a 40-38 as the Bulldogs opened the spring portion of their schedule. The Cougars won the team title with a 365 for a 9-stroke edge opver the University of Idaho. Lewis-Clark State College was third at 390 followed by Gonzaga at 391 in the four-team event. David Fern of WSU captured individual medalist honors with a 35-35 for 70 and a 1-shot win over Christian Akau of Idaho who shot 33-38. The format was a rarity for regular-season play as each team was allowed to play six players and count five in the team chase. Walla Walla Country Club - Walla Walla, WA Par 71 - 6,670 Yards.
