Gonzaga Men, WSU Women Win During Saturday Regatta

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga's varsity men's crew and junior varsity crew each set a new school record for their teams on Saturday afternoon during a head race against Washington State University. The GU varsity eight rowed the 5,000 meter course on the Spokane River in 15:34 while the junior varsity finished at 16:26. Washington State's varsity eight followed at 16:46. In women's varsity action Washington State pulled the course in 17:09 with the Gonzaga varsity eight edging out WSU's junior varsity eight by four seconds. The Zags covered the course in 17:37 just ahead of the Cougars 17:41. The women's varsity four race was a little closer with the Cougars finishing at 20:04 just two seconds ahead of the Gonzaga varsity four. Washngton State's second four finished at 20:33 just ahead of the University of Montana. Gonzaga returns to the water next Saturday as they host the Head of the Spokane Regatta at 10 a.m.
