KINGSTON, RI - Senior Maggie Moss (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) finished first in the 100-yard (59.37 seconds) and 200-yard backstroke (2:08.71) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:12.95), as well as leading three relay teams to a couple of first place and one second place finish in the Rhode Island Invitational held Friday and Saturday.

Overall, the women finished third of four teams as Massachusetts and URI took first and second, respectively, while La Salle placed fourth. The men also took third of four teams, finishing behind La Salle and Massachusetts and in front of URI.

In the 400-yard medley relay, Moss, junior Shannon Ma (Kennisaw, GA/The Walker School), and freshmen Ariana Berdini (Woodstock, GA/Etowah) and Laura Myers (Cedarburg, WI/Divine Savior Holy Angels) combined to earn a first place finish with a time of 4:02.89.

Substituting senior Christina Boland (Purcelville, VA/Loudon Valley) for Myers, the same squad took first in the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:52.39.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Moss, Myers, Maggiolo and senior Caitlin Hyde (Fairless Hills, PA/Bensalem) combined to take second place (3:43.39).

 

 

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Ma, Myers, senior Christina Boland (Purcelville, VA/Loudon Valley) and freshman Luciana Maggiolo (Coral Gables, FL/Bishop Carrollton) combined to take second with a time of 1:41.70.

Individually, Berdini (2:26.31) and freshman Lauren Fuchs (E. Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) (2:31.21) finished first and second, respectively, in the 200-yard breaststroke. Fuchs also place third in the 400-yard individual medley (4:51.42).

On the men's side, junior Jeffrey Cohn (New Orleans, LA/Isadore Newman) finished first in the 100-yard freestyle (48.46 seconds) and third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.27).

Junior Jonathan Sabin (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield) took second place in both the 100-yard (54.54 seconds) and 200-yard backstroke (2:00.73).

Sophomore Jeff Glazer (Dix Hills, NY/Commack) also earned a second place finish with a time of 22.28 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle.

Senior Mark Adam (Millersville, MD/ Severna Park) recorded a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.24) and third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.01).

In the one-meter diving event, sophomore John Osterholt (Hollywood, FL/Charminade Madonna) scored 192.75 points to place third.

GW returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 28th, when it hosts West Point in the Charles E. Smith Athletic Center pool.
