Two Men's Swimmers Garner Top Atlantic 10 Honors In Weekly Awards

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington men's swimming won two Atlantic 10 awards this week for outstanding performances in the Patriot Invitational. Junior Andrew DeSorbo (Salisbury, NC/Salisbury) was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming Performer of the Week. Freshman Mark Adam (Millersville, MD/Severna Park) was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming Rookie of the Week.

Competing in the Patriot Invitational, Nov. 21-23 Andrew DeSorbo made a splash winning several consolation races. Among the consolations won was the 200-yd individual medley on 11/22 which he won in 1:55.22, which is the fastest time in the A-10 this year. DeSorbo won the 200-yd butterfly consolation race with a time of 1:53.36, placing ninth overall on 11/24. DeSorbo won the bonus consolation race in the 400-yd individual medley with a time of 4:07.52 placing 17th overall on 11/22.

DeSorbo swam legs for several of the relay teams helping the Colonials finish sixth out of ten teams at George Mason who hosted the Patriot Invitational. He was a member of the 400-yd relay medley team who placed sixth with a time of 3:31.88 on 11/22. He was a member of the 200-yd relay medley team who placed 10th with a time of 1:37.99 on 11/23. He was a member of the 800-yd freestyle relay team who placed 10th with a time of 7:15.80 on 11/23. Finally, DeSorbo was a member of the 400-yd freestyle relay team who placed 11th with a time of 3:14.25 on 11/24.

Mark Adam set a personal-best in the 100-yd breaststroke with a time of 1:00.01 on 11/23. This was the second-fastest time in the Conference this year and led to Adam winning the bonus consolation race and placing 17th at the Patriot Invitational. Adam also placed 11th in the 200-yd breastroke with a time of 2:11.57 on 11/23. Adam participated on three relay teams during the three-day meet. He was a member of the 400-yd relay medley team who placed sixth with a time of 3:31.88 on 11/22. He was a member of the 200-yd freestyle relay team who placed 12th with a time of 1:30.55 on 11/22. Finally, he was a member of the 800-yd freestyle relay team who placed 10th and recorded a time of 7:15.80 on 11/23
