Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Both Place 6th at Patriot Invite

FAIRFAX, VA - The George Washington University men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed competition Sunday at the annual Patriot Invitational with each squad finishing sixth out of 11 teams at George Mason University's Aquatic & Fitness Center.

Yale and UMBC placed first and second, respectively, on both the men's and women's side.

Senior Maggie Moss (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) finished the three-day meet with two individual second place finishes and helped two relay teams post a fifth and sixth place finish.

Individually, Moss took second in both the 100-yard backstroke (57.38 seconds) and 200-yard backstroke (2:03.29). She also led GW's 200-yard medley relay team to a fifth place finish (1:49.42) and its 800-yard freestyle team to sixth (7:48.52).

GW freshman David Zenk (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis Country Day School) also turned in a number of strong performances in the meet. He finished first in front of 23 other swimmers in the 200-yard individual medley (1:52.38), placed second in the 400-yard medley (4:01.82) and took third in the 100-yard backstroke (51.66 seconds).

The Colonials return to action on Thursday, Dec. 1, and Friday, Dec. 2, at Auburn in the U.S. Open meet.

GW returns home on Saturday, Dec. 3, for a dual meet with Old Dominion beginning at 11:00 am.
