Sarah West Named Head Coach Of New Women's Squash Squad

Sept. 26, 2002

WASHINGTON, DC -- Sarah West has been named head coach for the new women's squash team at The George Washington, Senior Associate Director of Athletics Mary Jo Warner has announced. West will be responsible for all aspects of the University's most recent sport addition which begins play this Winter.

West came to GW from Dartmouth College where she is a 2002 graduate with a degree in English, and minor in Government. While attending Dartmouth, West earned four varsity letters while playing women's squash, serving as team captain her senior year. Additionally, she was named first team All-Ivy in 2001 and 2002 as well as second team All-America in 1999 and 2000.

While this is West's first coaching post for women's squash, she has honed her skills while an assistant coach of the 2002 New Hampshire All-State Girls U13 lacrosse team. "I am excited for the opportunity to become involved with a new, very special University," West said. "Although starting a new program will be a great challenge, I am confident the sport will have great success in the DC area."
