Castro Named Academic All-America

ATLANTA--Georgia Tech sophomore Roberto Castro, an all-America on the golf course, added all-America honors in the classroom as he was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Men's At-Large third team.
The ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The At-Large team consists of student-athletes in all sports other than football, basketball, baseball, soccer and track & field.
Castro, from Alpharetta, Ga., enjoyed a tremendous 2005 season, earning first-team All-America and All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors. He finished third in the NCAA Championship while leading the Yellow Jackets to a runner-up finish in the team standings. He led the ACC in stroke average at 70.86
Last week, Castro helped the U.S. team to a victory over England in the Palmer Cup competition.
Castro is a Dean's List student who maintains a 3.86 grade point average while majoring in Industrial Engineering.
Castro was joined on the Academic All-District III team by Tech teammates Chan Song and Nick Thompson, both senior Management majors who graduated in May.
