Women's Volleyball Downed at Towson, 3-0

TOWSON, Md. - George Mason's women's volleyball team dropped their second consecutive CAA road match to start their conference schedule, falling to the Towson Tigers in three games (19-30, 26-30, 27-30) at the Towson Center in Towson, Md. on Saturday night.

With the loss, the Patriots drop to 3-5 overall, and 0-2 in conference play, while Towson improves to 7-2 overall and a perfect 2-0 in CAA matches.

Mason got off to a slow start in the match, falling by 11 points in the first game, 30-19. The Tigers' attack outhit Mason .417 to .188 in the game. The Patriots kept the other two games close, but were still unable to come away with a victory, falling by four in the second game, and three in the third game.

Freshman setter Katie Corcoran once again was a standout, posting her sixth double-double of the season with a team-high 26 assists and 10 digs. For the second consecutive match, freshman outside hitter Rebecca Walter led the team in kills, finishing with nine. She also posted a team-high 12 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Connell recorded six kills on 15 attacks to go along with eight digs.

Towson's sophomore outside hitter Ally Perko led all players with 16 kills, while junior setter Kimberly Snider recorded a match-high 39 assists. Snider also finished with 15 digs, second only to teammate Alison Essink's 18 in the match.

The Patriots return home on Friday, Sept. 15 to face UNC Wilmington in a Colonial Athletic Association match. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Seahawks are also 0-2 in conference play with losses to Virginia Commonwealth and William and Mary.
