George Mason University hosted the Collegiate Open on Saturday afternoon and with more than a dozen teams competing, the Patriots still managed to be dominant in some expected areas.

The women's team took four of the top five spots in the long jump, five of the top six spots in the 200-meters, three of the top four in the 55-meters and three of the top seven in the 1,000-meters. Meanwhile, Marc Kellman continued to be dominant in the jumps, winning both the long jump and triple jump. The Patriots also took two of the top three spots in the 60-meter hurdles and 60-meter dash.

Kellman swept the leaps with a jump of 7.24 meters in the long jump and 14.90 meters in the triple jump. Teammate Ryan McCoy was second in the triple with a jump of 14.67. The Patriots also had a 1-2 finish in the 60-meter hurdles where Richard Phillips won the race in 7.91 seconds, followed by Ricardo Melbourne in 7.94 seconds. Sammy Sesay and Henry Harris nearly pulled off the same combo, but instead they were 2-3 in the 60-meters, finishing in 6.98 and 6.97 seconds, respectively. Sesay's 6.97 seconds in the preliminaries was .02 off the qualifying time for the IC4A meet.

Harris didn't settle for anything but first in the 200-meters, where he won easily in 21.79 seconds. Other men's athletes to finish among the top three were Mashel Jackson, second in the 1,000-meters in 2:34.45, Michael Akindele, third in the 500-meters in 1:07.74, and Jonathan Martin, third in the high jump with a leap of 1.97 meters.

First-year transfer Shamekia Louis had her best meet to-date for the Patriots as she won two events, qualifying for the ECAC meet in the process. She took the long jump title over a trio of teammates with a leap of 5.93 meters. Corri Allen was second with a jump of 5.80 meters, and like Louis, she qualified for the ECAC meet. Kim Morgan was fourth with a distance of 5.40 meters while Alyce Williams was fifth with a jump of 5.27 meters. Louis also won the 55-meters with a time of 7.16 seconds. That qualified her for the ECAC meet, along with Alicia Lowery, who was second in the race with a time of 7.18. Morgan was fourth in 7.25, .04 off the qualifying time.

The most highly-contested race of the day came in the 200-meters where Alycia Williams finished first, Morgan was second, Lower was third, Paula Bailey was fifth and Louis was sixth. They were separated by just 1.05 seconds. The Patriots had a similar finish in the 1,000-meters where Dana Early was third, Ryann Holmes was fifth and Sara Hines was seventh.

Other women to finish among the top three were Aisha Williams, who won the triple jump with a leap of 11.18 meters, and Nicole Brown, who was second in the high jump with a leap of 1.68meters. Aisha Williams was also sixth in the 55-meter hurdles. Both 4X400-meter relay teams finished in the top three for the Patriots. Bailey, Alycia Williams, Alyce Williams and Davidson were first in 3:48.81 while Sheena Goss, Holmes, Kathy Williams and Early were third in 3:59.82.
