FAIRFAX, Va. - Sophomore Murielle Ahoure, who tied a 25-year-old school record in the 55-meter dash two weekends ago at the Virginia Tech Invitational, had another stellar day for the Patriots, finishing first at the Patriot Games in the 60-meter dash.

Ahoure finished with the fastest time in the preliminary heats, crossing the finish line in 7.45 seconds in heat one. In the finals, she blew away the competition, finishing in 7.42 seconds. The second-place finisher, NeKisha Franklin of Delaware State, wasn't even close, finishing the race in 7.62 seconds. Ahoure has already qualified for the ECAC Championships and reached the NCAA's provisional-qualifying mark in the event.

Freshman Tiara Swindell earned a couple of second-place finishes at the meet, placing runner-up in both the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash. She finished in 25.43 seconds in the 200-meter dash and in 57.76 seconds in the 400-meter dash.

In the field events, sophomore Ryann Hendricks finished third in the long jump with a leap of 5.62 meters. Hendricks has already qualified for the ECAC Championships in both the long jump and the triple jump this season. Like Hendricks, teammate Marie Fields also finished in the top-10 in the long jump, placing sixth with a mark of 5.48 meters. In addition to her sixth-place finish in the long jump, Fields also placed fifth in the 400-meter dash (59.71).

George Mason's women's 4x400-meter relay team placed second at the meet, finishing in 3:54.28. The men's 4x400-meter relay team also had a top-five finish, placing fourth with a time of 3:34.97.

The men's team received top-10 finishes from Bobby Krause, who was eighth in the mile (4:25.01), Kris Cruz, who was eighth in the 1000-meter run (2:33.42), and John Crain, who was ninth in the 1000-meter run (2:34.10).

The Patriots have now hosted two track meets at the Fieldhouse during this year's indoor season - today's Patriot Games, along with the Father Diamond Invitational on Jan. 6. Mason will also host the Mason Last Chance meet on Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Fieldhouse.

Both the men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York City next weekend.
