(April 12, 2005)--The Mason tennis team bounced back from two straight loses and defeated conference opponent Towson, 5-2 at the Mason Tennis Courts in Fairfax, Va. The Patriots improve to 9-10 on the season, 2-3 in the CAA. Towson's three-match win streak comes to a halt, dropping to 4-10 overall, 1-2 in the CAA.

The point was won in the doubles matches when the Patriots No. 1 and No. 3 teams defeated the Tigers. The team of Andreea Fusea and Maricel Ballester defeated the Tigers Otanke/Parsons, 8-1, at the top position and improved to 10-6 on the spring season. The Patriots team of senior Katie Sloper and freshman Julia Moscato has been clicking, improving their record to 7-5, by defeating the A. Damrongsri/Zeger team, 8-6.

Mason won four of the six singles matches in straight sets. The top two singles matches were won by Patriots Fusea and Ballester by identical 6-2, 6-1 marks. Senior Katie Sloper defeated her opponent, Pamela Zeger 6-2, 6-3 and and freshman Moscato won her match 6-2, 6-0 to improve to 7-5 on the season, winning her last five of six matches.

The Patriots return to action tomorrow against Morgan State at 2 p.m. at the Springfield Country Club.
