Women's Lacrosse Hosts James Madison on Senior Day this Sunday

April 27, 2007

FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason will close out its 2007 women's lacrosse schedule with a Colonial Athletic Association contest against the eighth-ranked team in the nation, the James Madison Dukes, on Sunday at 2 p.m. at George Mason Stadium. The game was originally slated for Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m. but was rescheduled to accommodate the conference in rescheduling a crucial game between James Madison and Hofstra, the top two teams in the standings.

Mason enters the game with a 6-9 overall record and 1-5 mark in CAA contests. The Dukes are currently 11-3 overall and 4-1 in CAA games with a game scheduled against Hofstra on Friday. Although the Patriots are 3-13 in the all-time series, last year's meeting in Harrisonburg, Va. was a thrilling affair, with the contest going into overtime before Mason lost by a goal, 14-13.

The game will be Senior Day and the Patriots five seniors - midfielder Melissa Curry, attacker Becky Lee, defender Katie Linnertz, midfielder Jess Shelton and attacker Melissa Venturi - will be honored in a ceremony prior to the start of the game.

In addition to the senior ceremony, a number of other promotions will take place. Sunday's game will be the Broadside Game of the Week with all George Mason students in attendance receiving free chicken wings while supplies last. The game will be Mason Spirit Day and fans that wear green and gold to the game will get in at the discounted admission rate of $1. Fans will also get the chance to participate in lucky number giveaways throughout the game.

Tickets to the game will cost $5 for adults and $2 for youth and senior citizens. All full-time students enrolled at George Mason University will receive free admission with a valid student ID.
