Tisdell Wrestles Tomorrow at NCAA Championships

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Redshirt freshman Tyler Tisdell (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) will wrestle Muzaffar Abdurakhmanov of American in the first round of the 165 pound weight class at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, held at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, Okla. The first round is scheduled to begin at noon eastern time tomorrow.

Tisdell led the Patriots to an 8-7 overall record and 6-4 mark in the CAA in 2005-06. He compiled a 28-8 overall record at the 165 pound weight class, including a 13-1 mark in dual meets. On the season, Tisdell recorded three falls, one technical fall and nine major decisions. He won conference Rookie of the Week honors three times this season and narrowly lost a 3-2 decision to top-seeded Chris Vondruska of Hofstra in the championship bout at the CAA Championships in Philadelphia, Pa. on March 4.

Abdurakhmanov, a senior from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, won his second consecutive EIWA title, defeating Stephen Anceravage of Cornell 9-3 on March 5 in the final bout of the 165 pound weight class on his way to being named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler. Abdurakhmanov also won the EIWA title at 157 pounds last season. He enters the championships as the number three seed at 165 pounds with a perfect 21-0 record this season with six falls, five major decisions and three technical falls.

The winner of the match will face Eric Luedke of Iowa in the second round.
