Men's Soccer to Host Towson

Oct. 2, 2004

George Mason's men's soccer team (5-3-1, 1-0 CAA) will return to action on Oct. 3 when the Patriots host Towson (5-3-1, 0-1) at 1 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.

Last time on the field, the Patriots claimed a double-overtime 3-2 victory over Delaware on Oct. 1 in Fairfax. Junior Teba McKnight (Couva, Trinidad) scored his third game-winner of the season in the 102nd minute Friday to help lead Mason to its fifth win of the 2004 campaign. McKnight now leads the Patriots with 14 points and is tied with senior Matt Mendy (Banjul, Gambia) in goals with five, while McKnight and senior Damien Quinn (San Diego, Calif.) share the lead in assists among their teammates with four a piece.

Towson fell to undefeated James Madison by a score of 5-1 in Harrisonburg, Va. on Oct. 1. Freshman T.J. Thompson scored the Tigers lone goal of the contest off of an assist from J.C. Cole. Heading into this weekend's matchup, the Tigers junior goalkeeper Zak Thompson amassed three shutouts thus far this season and is currently ranked 15th, out of 30, in the nation with 5.57 saves per game.

The overall series between Mason and Towson stands at 7-7-2, with the last meeting ending in a 1-1 tie on Oct. 12, 2003 in Towson, Md.
