Furman To Face 11th-Ranked Georgia Southern This Saturday In Statesboro

Nov. 5, 2007

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Coming off a 52-49 win over 14th-ranked Elon in its final home game of the season, Furman hits the road this Saturday to Statesboro, Ga., to face 11th-ranked Georgia Southern in a 3:30 p.m. Paulson Stadium showdown that will televised by SportSouth.

Furman, now 4-5 overall and 2-3 in SoCon play, must win its last two games to avoid the program's first losing season since 1998, when the Paladins finished 5-6.

Georgia Southern, currently the Southern Conference's hottest team, has won its last three games to improve to 7-2 overall and move into a tie for first place with Wofford and Elon with identical 4-2 conference records. The Eagles clipped Wofford (38-35) in Spartanburg last Saturday after taking down The Citadel (21-17) in Statesboro two weeks ago and Appalachian State (38-35) in Boone on Oct. 20.
