The Furman men's and women's cross country teams will host the 34th annual Furman Invitational on Saturday morning on the Furman University Golf Course.
The Paladin men's team has earned two team victories this season, with titles at the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. on September 9 and at The Citadel Inviational in Charleston, S.C. on September 30. The Paladins placed fourth at the Winthrop Invitational on September 16 in Rock Hill, S.C.
Furman is led this season by Eric Albrecht, who picked up individual titles at the Eye Opener and The Citadel Invitational, while placing third at the Winthrop Invitational. His top time of the season is a career-best 25:45 on the 8K course at The Citadel.
The Furman women's team has also captured team titles at the Eye Opener and The Citadel Invitational. The women's team also placed fourth at the Winthrop Invitational.
The Lady Paladins are led by freshman Brittany Johnson, who has earned individual victories at the Eye Opener and at The Citadel Invitational. Johnson earned a fourth-place finish at the Winthrop Invitational. Her top time this season came at The Citadel Invitational with a 18:38 on the 5K course. Johnson was also named the Southern Conference Runner of the Week on October 5.
Furman welcomes 16 men's and women's college teams and 41 boys and girls high school teams to the event this year. Complete results will be available following the event at www.furmanpaladins.com the official website for Furman University athletics.
