Senior Eric Albrecht turned in the best Paladin finish on the first day of the 2007 Southern Conference Outdoor Championships at the ASU Track on Saturday, finishing in second place in the 3000m Steeplechase. The men's track & field team is currently in fourth place overall with 11 points, while the women are in eighth with seven total points.
Albrecht's time of 9:29.34 in the steeplechase was good for second place and eight team points. Sophomores Joseph Tenini and Alex Plasencia also scored for the Paladins in the 10000m run. Tenini crossed the finish line in seventh place with a time of 32:55.37. Plasencia was right behind him in eighth place with a mark of 33:06.99.
On the women's side, Page Bridges came in fifth place in the 3000m Steeplechase with a mark of 11:26.77. She scored four points for the Lady Paladins. Chibuzo Aguocha picked up three team points with her sixth-place finish in the long jump. Aguocha posted a mark of 5.73m.
The final day of competition will begin tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
