LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall won five of the first six races, and seven of the ten competed to hand Gettysburg's men's swim team a 109-76 defeat Saturday.

Matt Jaffee and Derek Nowak each won a pair of races, while Phil Rehders and Andrew Turkewitz each won one. Jafee also contributed a leg on the winning 400-yard medlay relay team along with Val Perfanov, Tom Grabiak, and Peter Fishler. The foursome clocked a 3:39.28. They were followed by an F&M foursome featuring Turkewitz, Matt Young, Audun Lier, and Drew Rowan.

Jaffee took the 200-yard individual medley and backstroke. He touched the wall in 2:04.26 in the I.M., followed closely by Grabiak at 2:05.84. Jaffee clocked a 2:03.76 in the backstroke, with Young taking second in the same race at 2:08.71.

That was one of two second-place finishes for Young on the afternoon. He touched nearly 29 seconds after Derek Nowak in the 1,000-free. Nowak finished the race in 10:01.39, eclipsing his own top Centennial mark in the event this season. He also won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:01.99.

The win concludes the dual meet portion of the Diplomats slate. F&M is idle next weekend, but returns to the pool the following weekend for the Centennial Conference Championships, hosted by F&M. That meet will be streamed live on the Internet by the Centennial Conference and Franklin & Marshall.
