Corday Named Player of the Year

Nov. 1, 2007

LANCASTER, Pa. - Brandon Corday has been named the 2007 Centennial Conference (CC) Men's Soccer Player of the Year for the second straight season, one of three Franklin & Marshall players named to the All-CC team on Thursday.

Corday repeats as a first-team selection by unanimous decision and becomes the first Centennial player to earn back-to-back Player of the Year honors. Corday is joined by Ryan McGonigle and Jason Keil on the first team.

Corday, a senior midfielder, is the fourth player in conference history to be selected to the first team all four years. He ranks second on the team and fifth in the conference with 10 goals. Corday has also dished out four helpers, leaving him one away from breaking the program record for all-time assists. He sits sixth in the CC in points (24) and tallied four game-winning goals on the season.

McGonigle, a senior forward, is earning his first All-CC honors on the first team. McGonigle is second in the conference in points (32) and goals (13), while handing out six assists. He was named the CC Player of the Week on Sept. 10 and was selected as the Outstanding Offensive Performer at the Blue Jay Classic.

Keil, a senior defender, is receiving his first all-conference recognition. He anchors a defense that ranks 11th in Division III with a 0.437 goals-against average, only giving up eight goals this year. Keil has started every game and has one goal on the season.

The Diplomats will contend for their first CC Championship this weekend in Lancaster, Pa. F&M hosts Gettysburg in the semifinals on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.
