F&M Wins Mid-Atlantic Invitational

HERSHEY, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall shot a low score of 304 on the second day to rally for the team title in the 2007 Mid-Atlantic Invitational, hosted by the University of Rochester. The two-day tournament was played at Hershey Country Club's par 71 East Course. The Diplomats finished with a two-day total of 624, four strokes ahead of Allegheny College (318-310-628). The day one leader, Wesley, finished in third (315-316-631), while St. John Fisher took fourth (322-312-634). The Diplomats had two golfers, Chuck Anttonen (Rumson, NJ / Rumson-Fair Haven) and Andrew Woods (Simsbury, Conn. / Simsbury), finish in the top ten. Anttonen shot a 76 on both Sunday and Monday for a two-day total of 152. Rochester's Stephen Goodridge, the defending NCAA Division III individual golf champion, was the medalist having shot a 149. He posted a 73 in Monday's final round. Woods shot a 157 to tie for seventh place. He shaved five shots off of his Sunday 81 Monday afternoon.
