GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Dennis Gunderson was Franklin & Marshall's top finisher, tying for 21st place in the 58-golfer field at the two-round Nike Spring Invitational, hosted this weekend by McDaniel College. The Diplomats finished in seventh place in the 12-team field, which competed on the par 72, 6,725-yard Links at Gettysburg.

The Diplomats posted a two-round team total of 638, 42 strokes off of team champions, St. John Fisher. Their 596 gave them a seven shot edge over Susquehanna, which took second place.

Gunderson shot an 83 on Saturday, and shaved eight shots for a 75 on Sunday, to finish 36 holes in 158 strokes (+14). St. John Fiesher's Scott Harris won the individual championship, finishing four strokes under par (70-70-140). He was the only entrant to come in under 144.

Two other Diplomats finished in the top 30. Andrew Wood finished tied for 26th, two strokes behind Gunderson. His low round was a 79 on Saturday. Charles Anttonen finished one stroke behind Wood with a 161 to tie for 29th place. He shot a 79 on Sunday.

Robert Moriarty tied for 35th with a 165. He also shot a 79 on Sunday. Joseph Fucigna took 37th place with a 166.

F&M returns to action next weekend at the Rochester Invitational.
