Diplomats Celebrate 2,000th Game

Jan. 8, 2008

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Franklin & Marshall men's basketball team will play their 2,000th varsity intercollegiate game in program history on Wednesday night when they travel to Swarthmore to take on the Garnet beginning at 7 p.m.

The Diplomats, who began intercollegiate competition in 1899, have posted an overall record of 1174-825 which ranks them 27th for most victories among NCAA Division III schools. During the 104 years of competition, F&M has recorded 59 winning seasons including 31 under head coach Glenn Robinson. The game is actually the 2,040th contest in Diplomat history, having competed in 39 exhibition games.

This is the second milestone for the men's basketball program this season. Robinson, the most victorious coach in Division III, coached his 1,000th contest in the championship game of the Sponaugle New Year's Tournament on Jan.3.

F&M is currently 6-5 overall and 1-3 in the Centennial Conference.
