COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - John Noonan recorded a game-high 19 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals while going 9-for-12 from the charity stripe to lead Ursinus over Franklin & Marshall 69-60 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on Wednesday.

The Bears (5-1, 3-0 CC) had a strong showing behind the arc, shooting 53.8 percent on the night including a 6-for-9 showing in the second half while also connecting on 20 of 25 shots from the free-throw line to collect their fifth straight win.

In addition to Noonan, Matt Hilton, Nick Shattuck and Remy Cousart were all in double figures for Ursinus, scoring 12, 10 and 10, respectively.

Clay Scovill led the Diplomats (3-4, 1-2 CC) with 13 points and eight rebounds. Scovill also was a perfect 7-for-7 from the line. James McNally contributed 10 points and nine boards in the loss.

Ursinus erased a 19-11 deficit in the first half, using a 14-0 run to take the lead for good.

With the game tied at 11-all, Derek Hines dropped a bucket in the paint off a pass from Scovill and Chris Sullivan made two free throws for a 15-11 lead.

F&M forced three turnovers and McNally drained back-to-back layups for its largest lead at 19-11. The Bears scored 14 unanswered points and grabbed a six-point lead after Kevin McGarvey three-pointer at 25-19 with 5:31 left in the first half.

The Diplomats managed to tie the game for the third time at the 2:35 mark, but Ursinus took a four-point edge into the locker rooms and continued to build on it in the second half.

Noonan scored the first nine points of the final half, knocking down one of three good treys for a 51-37 lead with 10:39 remaining.

F&M got within five on two occasions, but the Bears relied on their three-point shooting to hold on for the win.

The Diplomats returns to action on Saturday against McDaniel. Game time is 4 p.m.
