THREE MEMBERS OF FORDHAM SWIMMING & DIVING SQUAD ACADEMIC ALL-ATLANTIC 10




(March 20, 2007) - Fordham University student-athletes Donato Callara (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale), Ben Marzolf (St. Paul, MN/St. Thomas Academy) and Kristin Colton (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville Senior) were recognized for their athletic and academic accomplishments by being named to the 2006-07 Atlantic 10 Men¡¯s and Women¡¯s Swimming and Diving Academic All-Conference teams. Of the 22 sports sponsored by the Atlantic 10, seven are winter sports: men¡¯s and women¡¯s basketball, women¡¯s gymnastics, men¡¯s and women¡¯s swimming & diving, and men¡¯s and women¡¯s indoor track & field. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.00 and be a starter or key reserve on his/her team. Voting is conducted by the Atlantic 10 Conference¡¯s sports information directors. The number of players selected to a team reflects the standard-sized team in that sport. Callara, a junior diver, finished third in both the one (512.75) and three meter (510.70) diving events at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championships. He posted the Rams¡¯ top diving scores for the third straight season and was named A-10 Performer of the Week once during the 2006-07 season. Academically, Callara, a Political Science major, has been named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner¡¯s Honor Roll in each of the last two seasons. Marzolf, a senior, took 17th in the 400 IM (4:16.10), 18th in the 200 backstroke (1:57.51) and 20th in the 100 backstroke (54.85) at the 2007 A-10 Championships. He posted the Rams¡¯ top time in the 200 backstroke this season, and second best time in the 100 back and 400 IM. Academically, Marzolf, a Psychology major, was a member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner¡¯s Honor Roll and he holds the highest GPA of any swimmer at Fordham. Colton, a sophomore, scored in two individual events and three relays at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championships, placing seventh in the 200 backstroke (2:07.18), ninth in the 100 backstroke (59.35). She also was a member of the 200 medley relay, which took third (1:47.45), the 400 freestyle relay, which placed fourth (3:32.90), and the 200 freestyle relay which placed eighth (1:39.73). She posted the Rams¡¯ top time in the 200 back and second-best time in the 100 back, while helping the 200 medley, 200 freestyle, and 400 freestyle relay team to season-best performances. Academically, Colton, a Communications and Media Studies major, was a member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner¡¯s Honor Roll.
