Three Players Headed to US National Team Tryouts

Jan. 12, 2006

Three Florida Atlantic University volleyball players are headed to the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO to tryout for the 2006 USA Women's National Team. Iana Andonova, Katie Arvidson and Casey LaRocca will attend the three day tryout beginning Jan. 13.

Andonova (Margate, FL) was the 2004 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year and was selected as an Honorable Mention All-American before red-shirting the 2005 season. She is one of only seven players in FAU history to post 1,000 kills during her career.

During their freshman season, Katie Arvidson (Franklin, TN) and Casey LaRocca (St. Louis, MO) both earned First-Team All-Conference honors. Arvidson was named Freshman of the Year after a stellar season in which she hit .323 with 372 kills, 37 service aces and 109 blocks.

LaRocca ran the offense, which recorded the most kills and highest hitting percentage in program history. She finished with 1396 assists to break the FAU single season record and finished with 12.46 assists per game.
