Women's Soccer Signs Three

Feb. 5, 2003

Florida Atlantic University's 2003 women's soccer signing class was announced by head coach Brian Dooley Wednesday evening. The Lady Owls signed three players on the first day of the signing period.

"This recruiting class adds to the philosophy of our program; adding athletes, speed and soccer players as well as quality individuals," said Dooley. "We're looking to build a program both on the field and off the field in the classroom."

Meredith White, a 5'6" defender from Kingwood, TX., plays on the Challenge Soccer Club in Klein, TX. She is a speedy outside defender who finds the action and displays a willingness to move forward. White chose FAU over N.C. State and San Diego State.

Megan Coyne is a 5'9" goalkeeper from Marysville, WA. Coyne is a strong goalkeeper who is the starting goalkeeper for the Emerald City Soccer Club, which is a three-time state champion. Coyne is also a member of the Washington State Olympic Development Team and looks to compete with three-year starter Molly Keating. Coyne decided on FAU over the University of Pacific and fellow Atlantic Sun member Jacksonville State University.

Christina Chang is a 5'6" midfielder from Cooper City, FL. Chang is a member of the five-time state championship Team Boca U-18 team. She is a physical player with a lot of speed that can play both the left and right side. Chang chose FAU over East Carolina and Ohio University

FAU hopes to build on the most successful season in history in 2002 with this year's signing class. The team won its first Atlantic Sun title and posted a 14-5 record with only three seniors on the squad.
