Danielle Castro (Zephyrhills, FL) of the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team was named to the Verizon Academic All-District Region III Team selected by CoSIDA after leading the Owls this past fall to a 14-5-1 record.

Castro, a sophomore sweeper, currently holds an impressive 3.82 GPA, while majoring in Elementary Education and is on the Dean's List at FAU. She has been involved in numerous community service programs such as volunteer work at local Day Care's and Hospitals. Castro also volunteers as a coach in many of the local soccer leagues and camps.

Castro finished the 2001 fall season with one goal and five assists from the sweeper position while helping lead the Lady Owls to the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship game.
