FAU Women's Soccer drops A-Sun game to Campbell University 1-0

Sept. 27, 2001

Boca Raton - Florida Atlantic Women's Soccer team drops Atlantic-Sun Conference game to Campbell University 1-0.

In a very physical and tough played match the two teams played through a scoreless first half. The majority of the half was played in the middle of the field with not much offense. Shots at halftime were Campbell 3, FAU 1.

Campbell finally found the back of the net at the 70:36 mark in the second half. The goal was scored by Freshman Cadian Lawrence as she played a rebound of a free kick taken by Sophomore Kate Anderson. Anderson served the ball into the FAU penalty box and sophomore goalkeeper Molly Keating was unable to hang onto the ball. As FAU tried to clear the ball, Lawrence was able to redirect the ball into the goal.

That goal stood up as FAU pressed in the last ten minutes but could not get the equalizer. Shots on goal for the game were FAU with 7 and Campbell with 8.

With the loss FAU falls to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the Atlantic-Sun. Campbell University moves to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

FAU will host Georgia State University on Saturday, September 29, at 7pm.
