Women's Golf Wins Tournament

Oct. 27, 2002

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Florida Atlantic University erased an 11-stroke deficit heading into Sunday's final round to win the Coca Cola Intercollegiate in Daytona Beach, FL. The Lady Owls shot a 306 to vault past four teams and win their first tournament of the year.

Jessica Carafiello led FAU during the 36-hole event with a seven-over par 151 which was good for a tie for second place. Carafiello fired rounds of 76 and 75 while teammate Anne Fraser tied for fifth overall with a 79 on Saturday and a two-over 74 on Sunday. Natalia Navarro was the third Lady Owl to finish among the top-10 with a 155.

Florida Atlantic entered Sunday's action in fifth place, 11 strokes behind then-leader Birmingham-Southern. The 15-school tournament took place at the 5,816-yard LPGA International.
