TROY, AL - With its longest break between games since December nearly over, Florida Atlantic University heads back to the hardwood Saturday night when it faces Troy University. Tip-off is set for 8:00pm EST at Trojan Arena in Troy, AL. Both teams have identical overall records (11-9) while FAU is 9-8 in the Atlantic Sun Conference, one game behind the 10-7 Trojans. If FAU wins, it clinches a berth in the A-Sun Tournament. Four teams, including Troy, have already clinched with four spots still remaining. The Lady Owls look to shrug off a stretch of three losses in their last four games. In their last outing, against Gardner-Webb, FAU had senior day spoiled in a 55-45 loss February 19 at FAU Gymnasium. FAU is 11-3 all-time against the Trojans, including seven straight wins and a 10-1 mark under Chancellor Dugan. The Lady Owls are 4-3 at Trojan Arena with wins in its past three meetings there with Troy. In the last game between the two, on January 6, FAU defeated Troy 72-67 at FAU Gymnasium. Shontavia Williams led FAU in that one with 19 points. Overall, Williams is FAU's leading scorer and rebounder with 15.0ppg and 5.2rpg. She is the fourth-leading scorer in the A-Sun. Jackie Brown is second on the team with 11.0ppg. Troy comes in on the heels of its biggest win of the season. The Trojans crushed A-Sun leading UCF 71-50 on Thursday. The win snapped a two-game losing streak that followed a six-game winning streak. Troy is led by Laura Lee Holman, who is averaging 13.7ppg. Amy Lewis is second with 12.8ppg.
The game is the first of three straight for FAU, all on the road, to end the regular season. The Lady Owls face Lipscomb and Belmont next week in Nashville. The A-Sun Tournament runs March 10-12 in Dothan, AL.
