![]() Home Basketball Schedules Concludes This Week

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's basketball teams will conclude their home schedules this weekend with doubleheaders scheduled for both Thursday and Saturday. The Lady Owls host Campbell Thursday at 4:00pm followed by an FAU-Georgia State battle on the men's side at 7:00pm. On Saturday, the men host Mercer at 4:00pm, and the women take on Gardner-Webb at 7:00pm as part of "Hoops for Hope" night. The men's basketball team has won three straight and five of its past six games and is tied for fourth in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Owls (9-14, 9-7 A-Sun) are just two games out of first-place with four games remaining in the regular season. Mike Bell leads the A-Sun with 19.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. The Owls have averaged 90.8 points in their last four games and have the best record in road conference games at 6-2.
FAU is seeking to be one of eight teams to qualify for the A-Sun Tournament March 3-5 in Nashville, TN. Only three games separate first from eighth. FAU will be trying to avenge an earlier loss to Georgia State on January 5. The Owls take on Mercer Saturday after winning a triple-overtime thriller against the Bears on January 3 in Macon.
The Lady Owls enter this week in fifth-place in the A-Sun and have won six of their past nine games. FAU is led by Shontavia Williams, who is second in the A-Sun with 15.7ppg. The Lady Owls are second in the A-Sun in scoring and have five regular season games remaining. The top eight teams on the women's side also advance the A-Sun Tournament March 10-12 in Dothan, AL. FAU has qualified for the A-Sun Tournament every season under head coach Chancellor Dugan. Saturday's game against Gardner-Webb will also be "Hoops for Hope" night. Saturday will also be senior day as four players will be honored on both teams. For the men, Mike Bell, Jimmy Bishop, Pierre Tucker, and Robert Williams will be honored prior to the game.
